The Lonely Librarian ist Schweizerin, Bibliothekarin, Anglistin, anglophil, bibliophil, mit einem besonderen Interesse an Buch- und Bibliotheksgeschichte. Sie arbeitet in einer kleinen, in einem abgelegenen ehemaligen Kloster untergebrachten, Spezialbibliothek. Dass der Hauptbestand der Bibliothek aus Büchern aus dem 15.-19. Jahrhundert besteht, findet LoL toll. Die Abgeschiedenheit und die wenigen Bibliotheksbenutzer, die den Weg in die Bibliothek finden, machen ihr allerdings manchmal etwas zu schaffen. Deshalb hat sie im Frühling 2008, im Rahmen des Online-Tutorials Lernen 2.0 mit dem Bloggen begonnen, einerseits um nicht vollständig von der ”Aussenwelt” abgeschnitten zu sein und andererseits, um sich, inmitten all der wunderbaren alten Bücher, auch mit den neuen Technologien vertraut zu machen. Sie hofft, dass ihre Beiträge auch die eine oder den anderen LeserIn interessieren mögen…

The Lonely Librarian is Swiss, librarian, anglophile, bibliophile and with a special interest in book and library history. She works in a small special library, situated in a former convent, somewhere out in the green. What she really likes about her job is the fact, that most of the books in the library’s collection date from the 15.-19. century. The loneliness of the place, and the fact, that almost no readers ever find their way to the library, however, make her job sometimes rather depressing. That was why in spring 2008, following the online tutorial Lernen 2.0, she  started blogging, in order to learn about all the exciting new technologies and not to be completely cut off from the rest of the world. She hopes that her postings will be of interest to the one or other reader…
